As of last week’s update, Airtame officially supports the “big three” screen sharing protocols: AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast (Powered by ![Airserver logo](https://airtame.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/airserver-primary-lockup-black.svg)).

AirServer is a software solution that includes AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast. Just as Microsoft programs can run on different computer brands, AirServer software can run on different devices.

A year after announcing Airtame’s partnership with AirServer, we are happy to say that every [Airtame 2](https://airtame.com/pricing/) now comes with all the AirServer perks. What’s more, the perks are available at no extra cost.

## **AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast **

As of update 4.2.0, you can present cable-free and app-free with any of these options:

- [**AirPlay**](https://help.airtame.com/hc/en-us/articles/5070396455837-How-to-Present-with-AirPlay)** works on iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks**. This is a completely new and improved version of AirPlay. If you use an iPhone or iPad, open the control center and tap the “Screen Mirroring” button to get started. On a Mac, click on the AirPlay icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

- [**Google Cast**](https://help.airtame.com/hc/en-us/articles/5131229897117-How-to-Present-with-Google-Cast)** works on most Android devices and the Chrome browser.** Depending on the Android device, you can start sharing with the “Smart View”, “Screen Mirroring”, “Quick Connect” or “Cast” options. In the Chrome browser, click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner and then “Cast”.

- [**Miracast**](https://help.airtame.com/hc/en-us/articles/5070416763549-Present-with-Miracast-Peer-to-Peer)** works on Windows and some Android devices.** On your Windows computer, press (Win + P) and “Connect to a wireless display”. As with Google Cast, connecting from an Android device varies depending on the manufacturer.

## **The ultimate solution for cross-platform environments**

On top of AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast, you can still take advantage of [the Airtame desktop app](https://airtame.com/download/). The app runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, and Chromebook computers and lets you share presentation material to multiple screens at the same time. This is particularly useful if you’re presenting in a large space or across different rooms.

While the Airtame app will continue to serve its purpose, the benefits of AirServer are that:

- Guest presenters don’t need to run or install an extra app.

- Screen sharing from mobile devices has significantly improved.

- Much-awaited options like [extended desktop ](https://help.airtame.com/hc/en-us/articles/5204323988381-How-to-Extend-your-Screen)and [touchback](https://help.airtame.com/hc/en-us/articles/5967302058781-How-to-use-Touchback-with-Miracast) are available with Miracast.

AirPlay is the last of the “big three” protocols. But this is not the end of our cooperation with AirServer. Both companies will continue to work together to ensure top-quality performance.
