Used by more than 11,000 companies, and integrating data from Dropbox, Marketo, Moz, and so forth, our partner, Klipfolio makes sure that your web analytics, sales and finances, and project management goals are transparent throughout your company. I personally have a screen dedicated to Klipfolio dashboards in front of my desk and it really makes my life easier.

Cyfe

An all-in-one business dashboard app, Cyfe’s goal is to help you make better business decisions by bringing all of your business performance data under one roof. However, to benefit from its full potential, you would have to sign up for a Premium account.

Plecto

With varied integrations, such as Zendesk, Pipedrive, Podio, leaderboards, and custom recognition features, Plecto will drive your team’s motivation sky high. If sales are your main focus, Plecto is what you’re looking for. Also, I must say the pricing plan is quite eye-catching.

Small, medium, large companies – it doesn’t matter. Datapine can provide you with accurate KPIs in the most professional way, be it management, finance, sales, or marketing-related. Plus, I really enjoyed their customer support. For example, booking a demo and understanding their product took no time at all.

By connecting and visualizing your data in a matter of minutes, Tableau Public can make you forget about the old-school spreadsheets and reports that used to clutter your life.

I like the fact that Tableau has a broad service offering. Also, they are pretty active in terms of social events. So if you have any doubts, you can always check if they’re holding an event in your neighborhood.

Cervinoboard

Integrating Facebook, MailChimp, Google Analytics and Adwords, and many more, Cervinoboard focuses on online marketing agencies. They deliver smart services that save a lot of time for agencies that wish to deploy and maintain large amounts of dashboards. A few newer services are still in beta, but this is a young startup to watch.

Dundas

A business solution that is able to monitor data from a wide range of industries. From banking and finance, education, government to pharmaceutical transport and logistics, retail, and so on. With more than 20 years of experience on the market, Dundas has dedicated over 7 of them to their dashboard project development.

Zoho

Boosting your sales, managing daily activities, or stepping up your productivity game – Zoho has helped business professionals take care of all these for more than a decade. If I were looking for a very complex software provider, I would most likely choose Zoho.

Plotly

Incredibly user-friendly features and very intuitive dashboards. Not to mention the sharp design of their live graphs. Sometimes, it can take a while to load, but it’s worth the wait. The pricing plan: really appealing.

The name says it all because SimpleKPI is just that – simple. And when it comes to monitoring your business reports, that’s what you want. The visuals are nicely put together and easy to understand.

Databox

Databox has a clever drag-and-drop editor that makes data visualization a breeze. It has a ton of integration options so you can connect all data sources, no matter where you want your information to come from.

Sisense

This AI-driven analytics platform offers ready-to-use business intelligence dashboard reports for a wide variety of industries. You can experiment with sample KPIs, data sources, and visualizations for topics such as social responsibility, education, SaaS, and more.

Screenful

Screenful is the easiest way to visualize and share your project progress using data from your existing tools. It integrates with the most commonly used tasks management tools such as Jira, Trello, Asana, GitHub, and Asana.

The visual dashboards allow tracking key production metrics such as lead and cycle times and help detect any project bottlenecks.

Grow

Many services can’t offer a swift implementation but take months to get your solution up and running. Grow claims they implement 8x faster than competitors, meaning you don’t have to wait to get started with analyzing data. You can create role-specific KPI dashboards for an unlimited amount of team members, which is also a nice feature.

Geckoboard

Sometimes, one dashboard just isn’t enough. That’s why Geckoboards lets you display several different dashboards on the same screen. You can even add your own logo for a customized look and feel that matches your brand.

Target Dashboard

You can automatically merge data with this service. That makes it easy for you to get an overview of all metrics, goals, and KPIs without having to worry about the time spent trying to do it yourself. Target Dashboard includes support in their pricing plan, and that’s something we applaud. Bills can pile up when problems arise if support isn’t included, so that’s definitely something to look for when choosing a dashboard service.

Octoboard

With Octoboard, you can create public dashboards for easy sharing with other teams or clients. Octoboard also offers activity monitoring for brands and bloggers on social platforms. For those out there that want to glance at competitors while simultaneously looking at their own engagement, this is superb. That’s why I’ve put it as the last in the executive dashboard section because it would fit just as well in the next section; social walls.

Social Walls

Presumably, you want to track your social media lifespan or organize a kick-ass event. Social walls can help you stay on the pulse of your social media community – both in the office and at the conference center. These are some suggestions that caught my eye.

SocialWall Pro

SocialWall Pro provides social walls to reach, engage, and connect live audiences at events, meetings, conferences, brand activations, and online.

It’s a fully stacked solution, supporting all major social media channels, plus SMS, emails, and web messages. You can also use cool added features, like a gamification tool, sponsorship presentation, and performance analytics. 

Strea.ma

Want to keep track of your social media activity for a certain event or conference? With so many platforms out there, why not bring all of them into one easy-to-use display so that everyone can see your tailored stream of content unfolding in real-time? Meet Juicer, a social media aggregator that sets your filters up, moderates your posts, and analyzes your social media engagement. What’s more, Juicer has 18 integrations and a modest pricing plan.

According to research by Sauder School of Business, seating arrangements can have a major impact on the way people think. Old school meetings, with their large sober toned rooms, rectangular tables and formal “boardroom” style seating are now slowly making way for a different kind of room, one that fosters collaboration, with technology at the fore.

Focus on dashboard design

Having a good dashboard layout can completely change the way employees use the data to make decisions. There are 3 guiding principles to good dashboard design:

1. The information most often checked by users goes in the upper left-hand corner;

• Related metrics should be grouped together; and
• Metrics that need to be compared should be next to each other.

If you want your wallboards to be effective, remember that less is often more. Having a simple and concise design makes it easy for employees to understand what the data is trying to tell them. Only highlight key metrics that have a real effect on teams and decision making. Just because data is available doesn’t mean it has to be included on a wallboard.

Easy

In order for wallboards to be effective, they should be easy too. Ideally, the wallboard is visible to the entire team from the moment the first employee walks into the office, to the time the last walks out. Depending on a team member to cast the dashboard to a screen creates interruptions and unreliability. Displaying your wallboards with little friction will help make them successful.

Imagine a sports game where the players can’t follow the score on large boards across the stadium. Then, imagine losing a game by one point when you thought you were ahead. That’s the reality that many employees, specifically those in sales and customer support, live with every day.

Now, running a company isn’t exactly the same as a sports game, but there are key lessons you can easily apply to your business. For instance, in sports you have a clear target: winning the game.

Everyone from player to spectator knows the goal, its progress and how to get there. Targets in businesses might be harder to quantify, but if the target itself isn’t possible to define as a number, perhaps some of the tasks leading to it can be visualized.

Over half a century ago, Frederick Herzberg, author of One More Time: How Do You Motivate Employees?, found that you do not motivate employees with high salaries and espresso machines. Yet it still seems to be a common tactic in many companies, even “cool” tech companies, such as Google, Facebook and many others.

The truth is, if you really want to motivate your employees and engage them in their job, you need to recognize good performers. Even better, recognize them publicly, so that other employees clearly sees what it takes to get praise.

KPI dashboards boost performance

While most large achievements are usually given proper recognition by management, many smaller achievements that deserve recognition are forgotten or missed by management. This could be closing a good sales deal, getting positive customer feedback, or finishing tasks on time (or early).

So, how do you recognize employees better and more consistently?

In my experience, a great way to do this is to display all your key figures on large TVs around your office. Don’t show all your data, just the three most important KPIs for each employee, and why not color code your KPIs: Red, Yellow and Green. A green-coded KPI, for example, could signify a small achievement and would automatically be recognized by everyone else.

This isn’t just something I made up. A study conducted by Mindlab Intl at The Sussex Innovation Center shows that when carrying out routine, everyday tasks in traditional software, visualizing the KPIs boosts performance by 17%. Now, give me the name of a CEO or manager who wouldn’t like to see an almost 20% boost in performance?

You need to show it to boost it

When I talk to CEOs and Sales Directors, they like to tell me all about how much data they have and how many reports they could run.

In real life, however, those reports aren’t changing anything unless someone shares them. Not to mention, if I’m a poorly performing sales rep, I’m most likely not checking out the latest figures just to find out I’m last on the list.

Up until recently, it was a costly and cumbersome affair to set up TVs to display your KPIs in an enterprise environment. With the 1.6 update, you’ll see more stability. We’ve heard your feedback and we’re constantly working to improve performance.

Our focus for this release was to strengthen the basic user experience. As a result, we’ve smoothed out bugs and fixed some issues from the previous update.

The 1.6 release has a usability and stability theme. We included a large amount of bug fixes and improvements to the widget software and device firmware, which we hope people will notice intuitively. Firmware is updated through the Manage Device panel under the Updates tab. You can either check for updates manually or receive automatic updates.

Software is updated through the widget. When a software update is available, a green alert banner will ask you to restart the application.

Note: Your Airtame device should be connected to the Internet in order to update.

Better memory management

In general, the application will use less memory, freeing up resources for other uses. As a result, you should experience fewer crashes.

Dashboard improvements

We introduced a resources constraint for the Dashboard feature. This will make sure that the Airtame doesn’t get overloaded and crash if the dashboard is too heavy for the device to run.

Another improvement is that your dashboard will now load automatically after Airtame has been rebooted or when you switch between WiFi networks.

Ethernet connection stability improved

We were having some issues with the Ethernet connection, but this was a bug that has now been fixed. Expect better stability when using an Ethernet connection to your Airtame.

Bugs on Windows fixed

There are a couple main issues on the Windows platform that have been fixed.

We removed the opening animation on Windows that was making it difficult to click on the widget. Our team nicknamed this bug the MC Hammer bug, because the widget would jump from side to side whenever someone tried to click on it. Funny nickname aside, the MC Hammer bug is now fixed.

There was also a Windows-specific bug for displays with a higher resolution than full HD, which is resolved.

Usability on Mac improved

We made some small fixes on Mac that make a big difference.

We’ve added a copy/paste function in the Manage Device panel. This means that you can now copy/paste a URL for a website or dashboard into the Dashboard settings. Before this new function, it was necessary to type out the URL. We’re all pretty happy about this one around the office.

Another fix for Mac is a Dark mode version of the Airtame widget for OS X. If you have your Mac set to Dark mode, the Airtame icon will now appear in white in the menu bar.

Various bugs in Manage Device fixed

After the last update, the app sometimes wouldn’t register that Manual Mode was on. Now, there shouldn’t be any problems with this.

We also worked on faster loading when connected to an isolated router without internet connection. This means Manage Device will load faster when not connected to the Internet.

Another function we fixed is the Disconnect button that disconnects Airtame from your WiFi network.

New Help & Guides tab

We have a new Help & Guides tab available directly on the Widget. This is part of our growing efforts to improve user support.

In this tab, you can find a quick tutorial on how to use the CONNECT WITH IP function, plus more to come.

Fine tuning the UI

While our 1.5 update included some great new features, such as the Airtame widget and the connect with IP function, the 1.6 update finetunes our main functionality even more so.

We continue to tweak the look and feel of the Airtame widget with the overall goal to be as user-friendly and intuitive as possible.

IMPORTANT: If you experience any problems related to this update, please go to our website and download the latest version of our software and install it. This will replace your old version and fix any issues caused from the update.
