Challenge

Before Airtame, classrooms and meeting spaces at Regent’s University London relied on cables, adapters, and inconsistent screen-sharing setups.

Teachers often lost valuable minutes troubleshooting connections at the start of lessons. For Mark Curtis, Head of IT Service Operations, and his team, this meant constant support requests and wasted effort:

The challenge we had was around cables — the number of different devices, ports, and adapters. We were spending time just trying to get people connected,” says Mark Curtis. “With so many guests and visiting speakers using different equipment, it was unpredictable. Airtame has been a bit of a game changer for us.”

Regent’s University London

Regent’s University London also needed a better way to manage campus-wide digital signage and improve the visibility of their audiovisual systems.

Their legacy signage solution, AMX, was limited, and IT staff had little visibility into screen uptime or performance across campus.

Solution

Airtame provided a wireless, unified platform for screen sharing, digital signage, and monitoring — giving both educators and IT staff the flexibility they needed.

“We weren’t aware at first that Airtame could handle both wireless connectivity and digital signage. But keeping it all in one product, where we have visibility and can monitor everything through Airtame Cloud, has been really, really useful.”

With over 60 Airtame 2 devices powering screens across campus — including multiple installations in larger rooms — Regent’s University created a consistent, cable-free experience for both staff and visitors.

Guest lecturers can now easily connect using AirPlay, Miracast, or the browser-based app, avoiding compatibility issues with cables or dongles.

Regent’s University London now powers its digital signage through Airtame devices, which display content managed via a third-party signage platform — all easily monitored and controlled in Airtame Cloud.

“We use Airtame Cloud to keep eyes on glass. If a device goes offline, it automatically creates a service desk ticket so our team can proactively respond. We’re no longer waiting for someone to call and say a screen isn’t working.”

The IT team also implemented scheduled power management, turning screens off automatically at set times to save energy and extend hardware lifespan.

The solution Airtame offers also plays a big role in Regent’s’ strategic initiative of delivering IT resilience and service excellence to all staff members and end users.

Results

Since rolling out Airtame, Regent’s University London has seen measurable improvements in efficiency, reliability, and engagement across campus.

Reduced IT workload

“Previously, our AV team would spend hours physically walking around 100+ rooms checking if everything was working. That doesn’t exist anymore. We can see it all in Airtame Cloud — it’s saving us about two hours every day.”

Fewer support requests

Airtame’s intuitive dashboard and automatic alerts help IT resolve potential issues before they impact classrooms.

Faster setup and smoother teaching

Teachers and students can connect instantly — no cables, no dongles, no setup delays.

“What surprised me most was how quickly the students and staff picked it up. It’s just straightforward.”

Unified digital signage and communication

With Airtame, Regent’s University London can display key messages instantly across campus.

“If there’s a fire drill or security message, it takes less than 30 seconds to push content to every screen.”

Energy savings through smart scheduling

Screen sleep schedules and power management cut unnecessary usage while extending device lifespan.

Looking ahead

Mark and his team plan to continue expanding Airtame across more teaching and meeting spaces, with interest in testing Virtual Airtame and emergency alert integrations next.

“Our objective is to move most, if not all, of our presentations toward Airtame. It just makes sense — it saves us on hardware costs and lets people bring their own devices.”

For Regent’s University London, Airtame has become more than a presentation tool — it’s a central platform for communication, collaboration, and control across the campus.

“Airtame has been an incredible enhancement to our environment. It’s stable, intuitive, and it delivers exactly what it promises.”
