Our biggest update for Airtame is here. Airtame 3.0 is a whole new version for both our software and firmware. It’s simple, smart, and your new best friend at work.

Whoever said less is more didn’t know how right they were. If there are less distractions, you get more productivity. Our goal with Airtame 3.0, in this case, was to cut out the unnecessary parts and make room for more excellent work.

To sum up, we’ve focused on simplicity to make the experience a lot more slick, both when setting up Airtame, streaming with it, and managing it remotely through the Cloud. Not to mention, unlike our previous major version update, this update has design changes you will spot right away.

Let’s see what’s new in Airtame 3.0!

Changes you will see

  • Full remote management from Airtame Cloud
  • A simpler, quicker setup flow
  • A new, even more customizable home screen
  • More integrated and user friendly device settings

Simple, sleek app

We gave the entire Airtame solution a good hard look from start to finish. They say first impressions count, and we believe it, so we wanted to make sure new users got off on the right foot with Airtame. At the start, of course, is the setup flow.

New quick setup flow

An easy to understand setup flow from the moment you open your new Airtame is one of our core objectives. We’ve made it even more easy and quick to set up a new Airtame on your network than ever before. From a process that took 7 to 9 steps, we’ve cut it down to 2 to 4 steps.

For you IT admins out there, we’ve also made a manual setup process that won’t make you want to throw your computer against a wall. You can find the manual setup in your app settings by clicking the gear icon ⚙ at the bottom of the app.

New Settings

We moved device settings which manages streaming, home screen settings, and more, directly inside the app. In previous versions, device settings opened in a separate window.

Moving the settings into the app makes it easier for you to navigate through settings since you only have to look in one place to see all your settings. This is part of our goal to simplify the Airtame experience, so you can accomplish everything centrally and efficiently.

A major bonus is that having the device settings in the app, puts more of the work on the software side than on the device, so there is more reliability, as your computer has more computing power than the Airtame device.

Overriding Pin Code Connect on mobile

Our handy Pin Code Connect feature lets you turn on a 4-digit code that you type in to start a new stream. We made this feature to minimize the risk of accidentally streaming to the wrong display screen or, we dare say, to prevent unwanted streamers on your TV (at least those not in the room).

Pin Code Connect is still not available when streaming from mobile. Previously, if you had this feature turned on, you weren’t able to stream from mobile. We’ve now created the option of overriding Pin Code Connect on mobile, so you can enjoy the benefits of a pin code on desktop, and continue to use Airtame’s mobile app.

The Airtame device

As we said before, the device itself is still the same, but the firmware running on the device got a major upgrade. And like our moms always said, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

Your new home screen

We’re excited to announce our new home screen. The home screen, formerly known as splash screen, comes with an all new look and expanded customization options. Your screen will feel more like home than ever.

You can choose from 4 layouts: Guide, Sidebar guide, Minimal, and None.

Custom guide and Custom sidebar have extra options that let you change the text on screen, as well as add basic formatting. To format text, you can use Markdown, a simple tool for editing text. Want to start tinkering? Check out this article on how to customize Airtame’s background.

Under the hood, it’s also more responsive. What that means is the home screen is faster and less error prone.

Security

We’re no longer using the PHP language for configuring the device. With this removal, we have also improved security.

Additionally, we’ve added encryption so your Airtame’s settings are protected. Please note that this does not mean the stream itself is encrypted.

More control from the Cloud

If you have a lot of Airtames at your school or office, you’re probably using our Airtame Cloud platform. It gives you control of all your Airtames and lets you monitor your devices and manage settings remotely.

The new update to Airtame Cloud gives you even more control. You will now be able to access and edit device settings directly from the Cloud without opening up the Airtame app as before.

It’s all about making it easier for IT admins to stay in control of their environment without breaking a sweat.

Group edit device settings

A major addition to Airtame Cloud is the ability to edit multiple settings for multiple devices at the same time. To use this feature, just select as many devices as you need, and click on the “Edit” button at the top of the window.

When only one device is selected, the current edit settings drawer will open, but if you select more than one device, you will see a new drawer in which the user can select which settings to edit. Image upload will be one of these settings that you are able to edit from the Cloud.
