Gymea Technology High School (GTHS) sought to integrate modern technology into its educational practices to enhance learning and streamline classroom activities. Their original solution often encountered network issues due to its government-managed infrastructure and also performed poorly with certain devices. This led to equipment outages and extended set-up times, which impacted classroom time and frustrated staff. GTHS needed a reliable, easy-to-use solution that was compatible across various devices and platforms.
After a recommendation from their audiovisual supplier, GTHS began deploying Airtame devices throughout their campus to address their need for cross-platform screen sharing. Initially covering a single block, the deployment expanded in phases to include every classroom, ensuring a smooth integration process.
Using the Airtame app and AirPlay, teachers have found these devices particularly beneficial for providing quick, cable-free connectivity, allowing them to move around the room freely and interact more dynamically with students. One staff member remarked, “The wireless connection capabilities are fantastic. It saves a lot of time compared to using HDMI cords.”
Principal Peter Marsh states, “Using Airtame has significantly improved our classroom transitions and reduced the reliance on unreliable HDMI cords.” Now, teachers can stand anywhere in the classroom and easily connect their laptops to the projectors. One teacher noted, “I can stand anywhere I want with my laptop as I talk through class presentations.” This flexibility has allowed for more dynamic teaching methods and better student engagement.
GTHS staff members have praised Airtame for its reliability and ease of use. One teacher shared, “Being able to connect from any device to project wirelessly is great for when you forget to bring your own device to the classroom.” This feature has proven to be particularly useful, ensuring that lessons proceed smoothly without the need for technical adjustments or interruptions.
The school’s adoption of Airtame has also streamlined processes for faculty. Teachers can now quickly project course notes, multimedia examples, and other instructional materials onto whiteboards, improving the overall teaching and learning experience. As one educator said, “Every lesson, I use Airtame to project presentations on the whiteboard. I save the classrooms I use regularly as favourites, so I can quickly connect.”
Airtame’s success at GTHS speaks for itself – they’ve installed a device in every classroom and are looking into increasing their Airtame use through digital signage. Ultimately, it allows teachers to “focus on teaching and learning, not technology working.”
